During the 18th and 19th centuries the sword cane was a popular fashion accessory for the well-to-do as well as a handy defensive weapon against a potential threat. Sword canes manufactured today are basically constructed as a collector or novelty item and are not the high quality self-defense accessory that was used in the 18th and 19th century. Never the less, most all sword canes have steel blades that can be very sharp and caution should be exercised when handling them, even if they are flimsy, Sword canes of today are generally not suitable for use as a medical cane or supportive cane with the exception of our Cold Steel models or some custom sword canes that can be found on the internet.
